Assistant Head - Andy Gibson
Andy started his teaching career at Shenley Academey in the English Department and in 2000 was appointed Head of English at Turves Green Boys’ Technology and Humanities College. In 2003, became an Advanced Skills Teacher with an expertise in learning and teaching and the National Strategy and this was followed by becoming Assistant Head Teacher in 2004 with an initial responsibility for developing Learning and Teaching and more recently the role of Monitoring and Raising Pupil Attainment.
Assistant Head - Patrick Allaway
Patrick joined Turves Green Boys as Head of Geography in 2001 after working in two other Birmingham schools. He became a Head of Year and also developed a BTEC Travel and Tourism course in conjunction with other schools in the network. Patrick became an Assistant Head in May 2008, with responsibility for lower school pastoral and curriculum matters.
Assistant Head - Phil Fergus
After an teaching career spanning 15 years in Botswana on behalf of the British Council, during which he had served as a Headteacher in both the private and public sector, and developed links with a school in Soweto, Phil returned to the UK and was appointed to the D&T Department at Turves Green Boys’, specialising in Graphic Products. He became an Advanced Skills Teacher and has worked supporting an number of secondary and primary schools. In 2008 Phil was appointed as an Assistant Headteacher at the school with responsibility for learning and teaching. The school offers the opportunity to highlight planning and strategies to support Learning and Teaching programmes that address the potential underachievement in a small white working class environment.
